The SFVA is
fortunate enough to have an association with the largest non-profit
research institute out of the 86 or so connected to the all
VAs accross the nation. NCIRE is a self-funded, nonprofit
organization that complements a base of individual donors'
giving by seeking support from a variety of sources, such as the
National Institutes of Heath (NIH) and the Department of
Defense. With NCIRE, the Northern California Institute for
Research and Education, the surgeons of the SFVA have a chance to
conduct research alongside practice, Advancing Veterans
